Deforestation is having a negative effect on several different things. As I mentioned in my previous blog, deforestation is definitely impacting the environment in a negative way. In comparison, the cutting down of trees is having just as much of a negative effect on wildlife that it is on the environment.
How exactly is deforestation affecting our planet’s wildlife? Deforestation is a huge reason why habitat loss is an issue. Nothing positive is coming from the large amounts of habitats being lost. The loss of trees is reducing the amount of available food, water, and shelter to many different species of animals (How Does). Habitats are becoming fragmented which means they are getting split up. If the habitats are getting split up, that also means that species of animals are getting split up which is causing less biodiversity. In order for habitats to stay healthy, there needs to be a wide variety of organisms, which is known as biodiversity. Since, habitats are being fragmented, animals are not being able to breed freely causing a decrease in animal population. With habitats being torn apart, animals are trying to go find a different habitat that suites them, causing them to cross busy highways or come into contact with humans (How Does). It is usually never a good turnout if either of these things happen.
To conclude, deforestation is really impacting our wildlife population in a negative way. Actions to stop deforestation need to be taken in order to keep humans and wildlife safe and increase biodiversity.
